Dare The Future!

Something of a homage to one of my favourite childhood sci-fi influences, the bright (& spiffing) future portrayed in Frank Hampson's marvellous Dan Dare (Pilot of the Future!) stories in the legendary Eagle comic.

Up, up & away! Wrong franchise, but I'm not sure if Colonel Dare of the Interplanetary Space Fleet had a battle cry - probably "Tally-ho!" 🚀

Compositionally, I thought I may as well keep things clear & use a basic Phi / Golden-Ratio grid.

And there's a fairly obvious Golden Spiral in play as well... follow it round & yes, that is Colonel Dare again (But he's flying the rocket! How is this possible? Clearly using the Picard Manoeuvre...)

Tip of the hat to Eric Geusz / Space Goose, had I not seen his series of "Everything's a Spaceship" pics, it might not have eventually occurred to me the gizmo on my desk was clearly some form of Mon Calamari transport or Dan Dare rocket... 😉
